GOLDEN RULES FOR SAFE SURFING

Never give your email address, name, address or telephone number to strangers without the permission of your parents / guardian – use a nickname when you’re online.

Never open an email attachment – ask your parent or guardian because it might contain a virus which could damage your computer.

Tell your parent or guardian straight away if you find something online that makes you feel uncomfortable or something that you don’t understand or like.

Don’t enter competitions without asking your parents first.

Keep your passwords secret – don’t even tell your best friend – only tell your mum and dad what the secret codes are!

Always treat others on the internet the way you want to be treated.

Don’t go on any chat rooms unless your mum and dad have checked they are ok first – there are some adults in the world who are nasty and they sometimes try to talk to children in chat rooms and try to get them to do things that are wrong so it is best to let your mum and dad check first and tell them if you think anyone online is acting a bit strange.

Never download anything unless your parents say it’s ok because some programs have viruses that will damage your computer.
